Welcome to the IEM VPAC
IEM VPAC is the voluntary, nonpartisan political action committee of IEM International, Inc. Funded by the voluntary contributions of eligible IEM personnel and stockholders, the VPAC supports candidates for federal, state, and local office concerning emergency management, homeland security, disaster resilience and recovery, and the missions IEM’s clients carry out.
What is the IEM VPAC?
IEM VPAC is a separate, segregated fund of IEM International, Inc., registered with the Federal Election Commission as IEM International, Inc. Voluntary Political Action Committee. A separate segregated fund is a political committee that a corporation may lawfully establish and pay to administer, but which is funded only by the voluntary personal contributions of eligible individuals, never by corporate money.
Through the VPAC, eligible IEM personnel and stockholders pool voluntary contributions to support candidates for public office who understand the issues that affect IEM, its employees, and the communities and clients we serve. Participation is voluntary, and the decision to contribute, or not to contribute, is yours alone.
Dear IEMers,
Almost everything we do at IEM runs through a decision someone was elected to make. How much a state sets aside for mitigation before the storm, rather than after. Whether a recovery program is written so that a small parish can actually use it. Whether help reaches a community in months or in years. We can advise on those decisions, and we do, but we do not get to make them.
The VPAC is how those of us who choose to can support the people who get them right. It is nonpartisan, and it will stay that way. We look at one thing: whether a candidate has taken responsible positions on preparedness, recovery, and resilience, and we support candidates in both parties on that basis. The money is ours, given from personal funds, pooled and given carefully.
I would rather have a smaller committee that people joined on purpose than a larger one that anybody felt obliged to join. Your participation in the VPAC is entirely voluntary. You are free to give, or not to give, and to decide how much; your decision will not affect your employment, compensation, advancement, or standing with IEM in any way. Any amount suggested is only a suggestion, and you may give more, less, or nothing at all. Contributions to the VPAC are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
Thank you,
Bryan W. Koon, IEM VPAC Governing Board Chair
